My name is Emma – nice to meet you!
I am a 25 year-old woman, working in local government, trying to find my way in life. Sounds pretty ordinary, right? Well think again – one thing that I love about what I do is that I am constantly surprising people.
I am also an eating disorder survivor and deal with having anxiety & depression on a daily basis. I am very passionate about raising awareness around how fitness can be more than just about dropping the lbs to change how you look.
Fitness is about becoming healthier and learning to love the body you are in.
It isn’t always easy but you have got that extra in your ordinary. There is nothing more satisfying than achieving something that seems out of reach.
You can follow my challenges through this blog and on my Instagram page – my latest challenge was Ironman Barcelona on 30 September 2017.
An Ironman involves swimming 2.4 miles, cycling 122 miles and running 26.2 miles. I did it all in one race to break down the stigma around mental health and to fundraise over £4000 for South East and Central Essex Mind.
“She believed she could, so she did.”
I was told I couldn’t do it because I was a woman, I wasn’t mentally strong enough, because I didn’t look the part..etc etc.. but I wanted to do it and with the right hard work I proved everyone wrong. So, I honestly believe that if you want something enough then you can find a way to make it happen.
I am a woman, I have anxiety and depression and I did an Ironman – if little old me can do this than what are you capable of?!
